Bennett, Richard "Dick" Lee Bennett,

A funeral mass for Richard "Dick" Lee Bennett, (also known as Pop), will be held on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 N. Sherwood Avenue in Clarksville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville. Dick passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Louisville.

Dick was born on May 31, 1933 in Jeffersonville, IN, to the late Charles and Dorothy Bennett. He was a retired electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 369. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the Jeffersonville Optimist Club. Dick volunteered many hours at the Soup Kitchen and Floyd Memorial Hospital. His favorite thing was spending time with his loving family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Tony Bennett (otherwise known as "TJ" to Pop).

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Bennett; two children, Jackie Flanigan and her husband Dion; Tony Bennett and his wife Tina; a brother, Walter W. Bennett and his wife Joyce; five grandchildren, Hilary Hall (Matt); Trish Armenta (Chad); Katie Thomas (Josh); Lizzie Mullen; Emily Motta (Jon); and five great grandchildren, McKenna, Tinsley, Addi, Gatlin, and Lilah.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
