Adcock, Robert Alan "Rocky",

70, of Louisville, died on January 24, 2017. Born in Glasgow, KY, Rocky moved with his family to Louisville in 1955. Rocky attended Fern Creek High School and was a 1972 graduate of Georgetown College with a B.S. in biology. He was both a scientist and an artist. Rocky worked in medical research at the University of Louisville for many years, but his first love was always music.

Rocky was a bluesman and a fixture in the Louisville music scene. He played with many veteran acts throughout the decades, and also formed his own band, the Rocky Amaretto Blues Band. He was a founding member and first president of the Kentuckiana Blues Society, and helped to establish the Garvin Gate Blues Festival. He was a past president of the Louisville Federation of Musicians. He remained a generous supporter and promoter of local musicians.

Rocky is survived by his daughter Allison Adcock-Melgosa (Val Melgosa) of Silver Spring, MD; son Steve Adcock (Caroline) of Carmel, IN; sisters Martha Adcock (Carolyn Coffey) of Morehead, KY and Jeanette Dismore of Franklin, TN; sister-in-law Joy Hanna of Mt. Washington, KY; friend Mimi Englert of Louisville; five grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss his wit, curiosity, and penchant for conversation.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 at First Unitarian Church, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Louisville Musician's Emergency Resource Foundation (MERF).
