Clarence Prater Obituary
Clarence was born Tuesday, October 20, 1931 in Breathitt County, KY. He was the son of the late Vincent Prater and Corsie Noble Prater. He called Middletown, KY home for 58 years, where he and his wife raised three sons.
Clarence was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving with the Army as a medic. He worked for the Pillsbury Company in New Albany as a supervisor for 42 years.
He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing and gardening and was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Fields Prater, one sister and five brothers.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Geraldine Prater of Elkmont, AL; three sons and their spouses, Clarence Prater Jr. of Lewisville, TX, Alan Dale Prater of Selinsgrove, PA and Jeffrey Edward Prater of Elizabethtown, KY; brothers, Seldon Prater of Jackson KY, Ollie James Prater of South Carolina, Lester Prater of Winchester, KY; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Clarence touched the lives of many and will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday at Ratterman's, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville, with burial to follow in Middletown Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in the form of contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
