Griffin Goad Obituary
of Hoover, Alabama passed away suddenly early Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Griff was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 6, 1946. He spent most of his life in Alabama.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Landen Goad of Louisville, Kentucky, his daughter, Whitney (Chris) Staggs and his son, Todd Goad; his wife, Mickie and her daughters, Caroline (Kyle) Sain and Melanie (Joey) Valekis; seven treasured grandchildren; his brother, Mike Goad of Louisville; and his sister, Pam (David) Hudson of Tequesta, Florida.
Griff was preceded in death by his father, Griffin "Bud" Evans Goad and his first wife, JoLynn Clayton Goad.
Griff served in the Army National Guard; was retired from a long career with BellSouth (ATT), and spent a short time relocating and working in Colorado for Qwest Telecommunications. He was a member at Discovery United Methodist Church, volunteered at the Birmingham Museum of Art, and racing with the WKA, Superkarts and the SCCA. He was also a scrutineer for the American Le Mans series. He enjoyed spending time with his family the most—especially his grandchildren.
Griff's life celebration will be at 10am on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:30pm until 7:30pm, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alabama Public Television or the charity of your choice.

Mickie, I just heard today from Lauren. I am just so sorry. Griff was such a great guy! If I had known earlier, I would have come to the visitation and funeral. Will miss seeing him at Pepper Place. Will be praying for you and family!
