Herbert Shoulders Obituary
96, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in the Norton Health Care Pavilion.
He was a long-time resident of Louisville, but was born and raised in Franklin, Kentucky.
Herb was retired from National Distilleries, a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran, a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, a life-time member of the American Legion Zachary Taylor Post, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jeffersontown, and an honorary teammate with his best friend Steve Overton of the Louisville Senators baseball team.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo V.(Rogers) Shoulders and son, Ronald D. Shoulders.
He was loving father to his daughter, Dian Ruffra (Bob) and loving grandfather to Rozalind Phillips (Butch), who was also his caregiver, Kristi Metcalf (Michael), and Rob Ruffra (Marlyn). He was a loving great-grandfather to Sean and Andrew Metcalf, Zachary and Sophia Phillips, and Rachel and Mia Ruffra. He was also a loving uncle to lots of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road in Jeffersontown. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Ratterman & Sons with burial at Jeffersontown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions may go to Hosparus of Louisville.

Herb was a bright spot in our day at Crescent Hill Golf Course every time he walked in. My father in law, also from Franklin, had the pleasure of playing golf with Herb and lovingly referred to him as The Franklin Flash! He's a fine man and we will miss him deeply.
