Devoted Mother, Loving Aunt

Pota "Pat" (Koutros) Kalergis, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died February 22, 2015, at Lowell General Hospital, after a brief period of declining health, aged 88 years. Born in Lowell, November 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Dionisius and Mary (Heliotis) Koutros. Beloved wife of the late Gregory Kalergis, with whom she had shared 57 years of marriage. Devoted and loving mother of Marina Meade and her husband General David C. Meade (Ret.) of Hampton, NH. Cherished aunt to ten nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousin Louis Heliotis and his wife Suzanne.

She received her early education in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1945.

During her high school years, Pat was an accomplished baton twirler and led her team to many winning competitions. Throughout her life, she supported Lowell High and served on the Reunion Committee for each of her class reunions.

Mrs. Kalergis became affiliated with Dennis Office Supply in Lowell as a Salesperson, and continued with Boise Cascade in Burlington after they were acquired by Dennis, until she retired in 1991.

She was a lifelong, active member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, and belonged to the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society.

Pat loved traveling the world with Gregory, especially to Greece, Aruba and Hawaii, and hosting summer gatherings at the family "compound" at Seabrook Beach. For over 40 years, she enjoyed playing poker three times a week with the same group of great friends.

Mrs. Kalergis truly lived life to the fullest. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who will always remember her larger than life personality, and invincible spirit.

Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd., the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Lowell, on Friday at 10:00 AM. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
