Egide Houndegla Obituary
Loving husband, father, brother, and son
PELHAM -- Egide Vincent Houndegla, 47, of Pelham, died Saturday, January 9th, at UMass Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family, following a long and courageous battle with ALS. He was the beloved husband of Rupa P. (Patel) Houndegla with whom he would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on February 13th of this year.
Born in Allada, Benin, Africa, April 17, 1968, a son of Emilienne Houndegla of Benin and the late Alphonse Houndegla, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics while in Benin. Eager to further his education, he then went on to earn his Master's Degree and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Before illness forced his retirement, Egide was employed as a Systems Engineer II in the Defense Systems Division at Raytheon Corporation in Woburn.
Among his many activities, he enjoyed playing with his children, listening to music, joking with everybody and discussing politics.
In addition to his wife and mother, Egide is survived by two sons, Alphonse E. Houndegla and Adrian E. Houndegla, both of Pelham; two brothers, Raoul Houndegla of Benin, and Franck Houndegla of Benin; two sisters, Patricia Houndegla of France, and Carol Houndegla Anani of France; and many nieces and nephews.
HOUNDEGLA -- In Worcester, Jan. 9, 2016, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Egide Vincent Houndegla, 47, of Pelham, husband of Rupa P. (Patel) Houndegla. Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 11 o'clock. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Burial in the Gibson Cemetery. E-condolences/directions at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
