Edward W. Courtemanche
of New Bern, NC, WWII vet; 84

NEW BERN, North Carolina -- Edward W. Courtemanche, 84, Fairfield Harbour Community of New Bern, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, New Bern.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Phillias and Rose Gregoire Courtemanche; brothers, Henry and Arthur Courtemanche.

He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. Edward was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and retiree of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England Division as Chief of Procurement. During tenure with the Corps, he completed two overseas assignments in Okinawa and Saudi Arabia.

Edward was active in the Knights of Columbus and was Past Grand Knight of the Chelmsford/Westford, MA Knights of Columbus Council No. 9275. After moving to New Bern in 1998, he joined St. Paul Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic Minister to the sick and homebound. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3303 participating in the Special Olympics and the LAMB Projects.

He is survived his wife of 47 years, Barbara A. Courtemanche of the home; three daughters, Lisa J. Courtemanche of Nashua, NH, Julie A. Koitzsch (Thomas) of Amherst, NH, and Renee M. Botnick (Richard) of Auburn, NH; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Cassandra, Nicholas, Zachery Botnick and Samantha Koitzsch.

COURTEMANCHE -- The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Oscar's Memorial Chapel with the Rosary Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. His funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, November 22, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Mizener, celebrant. The inurment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, 3005 Country Club Rd., New Bern, NC 28562 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Oscar's Mortuary, Inc., New Bern. NC. Online condolences are accepted at oscarsmortuary.com.
