Michael Marshall Obituary

On June 17, 2016, our circle of family and friends lost a playful, loving soul. Mike passed away, unexpectedly, at his home. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 30, 1947 to Don L. and Vicki (Alida Vickman) Marshall.
Mike was a graduate of Lansing Everett High School and received his Bachelor's Degree at Michigan State University. Retired from General Motors as an electrician, he was a member of UAW 602, IBEW 665, American Legion Post 238, and the NRA. He loved the outdoors - kayaking, camping, and walking the Gulf coast beaches. From an early age, Mike had a strong worth ethic. A greater priority though, was the nurturing of lifelong friendships, where he expressed his support, kindness, and generosity. Mike embraced all of these friends as his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Scott Marshall. He is survived by his brother, Roger (Nell); nephew, George; loving companion, Cyndy Saenz; and kitty, Bella. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing with Pastor Bob Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in his name to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one's choice. The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home. Roger,
I only learned of Mikes passing recently. I wish I had known. As you know, I knew Mike all of his life, every since he was born when we lived on Tisdale.
We kept in touch, but usually only at Christmas. I am so sorry that I didn't get contacted but we no longer had mutual friends and I live in Indiana since the 1970's. He was my oldest and dearest friend. I will him greatly.

Roger, you may not remember me. My name is Alesia Cannon-Flowers, I met Mike at Everett, he was the student teacher for our math class. He would drive us to MSU on Wednesday's. I met you when you came with him to a surprise birthday party we gave him back in 78 . We have played phone tag for 40 years and it was my turn to call him on Oct. 30, 2016. But, I got a busy signal and again today so I knew something was wrong. The last time I spoke with him was around May, I will miss him dearly. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I will miss Mikes smile each day. He was a joy to work with and helped me out of dozens of jambs at work.

I met Mike when he was a MSU student teacher at Everett High School in the math lab (1979-1980). I have seen him through out the years. My last encounter would be at my work place and the Holt American Legion. I will miss his friendly smile and listening to his stories about my high school years. Love you Mike, will never forget you.

So sorry to learn of Mike's passing. Met him 26 yrs ago when we first moved to Holt. He has always been a good friend. Always so cheerful, friendly and sweet.. He is going to be greatly missed.

Mike was my Grandparents neighbor. Mike was always so nice to us kids in the neighborhood. As far as neighbors go, he was one of the best. Many fond memories. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
