Anne Rau
December 6, 2010
Nathalie was my boss in the 1980's when I was a page in the Children's Dept. She taught me a lot about libraries and managing people. She was very good to me and I will always remember her mentoring of me. She advised me to become a librarian long before I thought of it myself!
I always said her name should be on my MSU diploma because she worked my library schedule around my classes and never complained.
She looked a little stern at first glance, then when you got to know her you would see the twinkle in her eye. One day when I first was still pretty new to the Children's Dept she called me into her office: "Miss Rau, I want to speak with you." I nervously went into the office and she shut the door. She then proceeded to tell me a joke! Thereafter I knew when I got "called in" it would be for a joke in that great storytelling way she had.
I will miss you dear “Douggie” (as I called her) and I will always remember you.
