Kenneth Mohre Obituary

Kenneth John Mohre Sr. Charlotte Kenneth John Mohre Sr., 78 of Charlotte, MI died Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Mr. Mohre was born February 25, 1932 in Lansing, MI the son of Donald and Thelma (Pifer) Mohre. Mr. Mohre retired from Lindell Drop Forge as a Millwright after 35 years of service and was a former volunteer Fire Fighter for Delhi Township. Ken and his wife Illa operated Illa's Tendercare Adult Foster Care Home in Charlotte from 1990 to 1999. Mr. Mohre could build anything out of everything, from lawnmowers to airplanes. He enjoyed dancing, doing yard work and having candy with a cigar. Mr. Mohre loved his family and spending time with them at their family cottage where they would ride the saucer disk, taking his last ride at the age of 69. He was a wonderful provider who with his wife Illa worked as a great team to raise their five children. Ken made a lot of new friends in his later years at the Eaton Senior Center. He is survived by his daughter, Trudy (Roy) Thomas of Holt; Ken (Deb) Mohre of Rochester; daughter, Candy (Tom) Taylor of Dimondale; daughter, Penny (Scott) Cooper of Charlotte; son, Donald (Diane) Mohre of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Mohre of Dewitt, Leonard (Judy) Mohre of Eaton Rapids, and Douglas Mohre of Charlotte; and sister, Maxine (Fred) Rach of Dansville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Illa in 1999; brother, Carroll Mohre; sisters, Elaine Hershieser, Norma Mohre, and Pam Harmon. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Pastor Phil Hobson officiating. Interment will be in Deepdale Cemetery, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House.
