Melvin O. Michaud

Melvin O. Michaud Myrtle Beach, SC Melvin O. Michaud, age 95, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Agape Senior Rehab in Conway, SC. Mr. Michaud was born March 23, 1915 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a son of the late Victor and Lois Lamb Michaud. Mr. Michaud later moved to Flint, MI where he graduated from Flint Northern High School. He received his degree in accounting from Baker Business College in Flint, MI. He began his career in accounting at White Gold Ice Cream and later was an accountant at McDonald Dairy, both in Flint. Later in his career he opened his own accounting and income tax preparation business in Lapeer, MI. After retiring he and Reva moved to Lansing, MI and wintered in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Following Reva's death, Melvin moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2008. Melvin's hobbies included golf, bowling, and tennis. Mr. Michaud was a member of the Lapeer Lion's Club and the Masonic Lodge in Flint, MI. One of his proudest moments was in December 2009 when he received his 70 year membership pin from the Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather as well as an avid Michigan State Spartan. His wife of 59 years, Reva McDonald Michaud and his sister, Beverly Domorsky, preceded Mr. Michaud in death. Survivors included his daughters, Melanie Michaud Garlinger, and her husband, Steve, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sandra Ann Lightfoot and her husband, Gary, of Higgins Lake, IL; four grandchildren, Brent Lightfoot and his wife, Cate, of Aurora, IL, Lynne Duda and her husband, Chris, of Northville, MI, Eric Garlinger of Grand Rapids, MI, Alison Garlinger of Murrells Inlet, SC; and six great-grandchilden, Quinn Lightfood, Sloane Lightfoot, Regan Lightfoot all of Aurora, IL, Ryan Duda, Molly Duda, and Ian Duda all of Northville, MI. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Agape Hospice, 2320 Hwy 378, Conway, SC 29527 and Mobile Meals of Myrtle Beach, PO Box 7421, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
