Barbara Davies Obituary

Barbara Louise Davies Holt Born May 27, 1911 in Lansing the daughter of the late Oscar and Edith Mattice died on Friday, August 7, 2009 at the age of 98. Barbara retired from the State of Michigan Gas Tax Department, was a longtime member of Holt United Methodist Church, a former Worthy Matron of Holt Chapter #510, O.E.S., enjoyed square dancing, knitting, crocheting, and going on "Spotlight" tours. Surviving are: nieces, Arleen (Richard) Perry of East Lansing and Donna (Roscoe) Luttrell of Columbus, OH; three great nephews; four great nieces; many great-great nieces and nephews as well as two great-great-great nieces. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davies; sister, Mary F. Smiley and brother, Paul Mattice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Wagner officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the start of the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara L. Davies may be made to Holt United Methodist Church.
