Betty Corcoran Obituary

Betty A. Corcoran East Lansing Born May 25th, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri; died June 12, 2010, at the age of 89 in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Corcoran was a 1940 graduate of East Lansing High School and she later attended Michigan State University. Mrs. Corcoran worked for Oldsmobile before her marriage and she later spent fifteen years with East Lansing High School as the Attendance Officer. Known as Mrs. C by her students, she became a positive influence on a generation of East Lansing kids. Mrs. Corcoran volunteered in Sparrow Hospital's surgical word for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Corcoran was an avid fan of Spartan Football and Basketball and she loved her Tigers as well as the Atlanta Braves. She was natural musician and she passed on her love of music and sports to her family. She was devoted to her family and friends. She lost her loving husband Joe Corcoran in 1998 after 52 years of marriage. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet of San Francisco and Judy Hall of Atlanta, GA; 3 sons, Tim (Francine) of Burlington, VT, John (Peggy) and Michael (Theresa) both of Traverse City, MI; 10 grandchildren, Brady, Baylee, Joe, Michael, Kevin, Mac, Riley, Molly and Graham Corcoran and Clancey Hall; and sister-in-law, Jean Urquhart of Lansing, MI. A memorial celebrating the life of Mrs. Corcoran will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing, Michigan this Friday, September 17th, at 3:00pm, with reverend Father Mark Inglot, presiding, followed by a traditional Scotch/Irish Wake at Brookshire Inn in Williamston, at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17th, 2010. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your favorite charity in Betty Corcoran's name.
