Betty Pohl Obituary

Betty Lou Pohl Portland Age 86, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on May 26, 2010. She was born on May 12,1924 in Farmington, MI. the daughter of Ernest and Ilah (VanHouten) Farmer and they preceded her in death. Betty was a member of St. Patrick Church in Portland. She was involved in various activities at the Portland Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 1982; brother, Robert Farmer; daughters-in-law, Joanne Pohl and Tina Pohl. Surviving are her children Joseph (Susan Luna) Pohl of Portland, Patricia (Donald) Stump of Pewamo, Kathleen (Robert) Hann of Grand Rapids, Richard (Dorothy) Pohl of Portland, Gary (Jan Marie) Pohl of Portland and Colleen Pohl of Portland; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Farmer of Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Viola Spickler of Arizona and Frances Pohl of Portland; special friends Leon and Geri May of Portland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Charlon O. Mason, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and the Scripture Service will be held at 8p.m.. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Portland Senior Center or Ionia Area Hospice in memory of Betty.
