Christopher Simmons Obituary

Christopher Donald Simmons Laingsburg Age 61, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel. A rosary will be prayed following the visitation. Burial will take place in Pine Tree Cemetery, Corunna. Christopher was born on November 16, 1949 in Traverse City, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Birdsey)Simmons. He attended Bath High School and served in the U.S. Marines stationed in Viet Nam. On October 4, 1980 he married Patricia Davis at St. Isidore in Laingsburg. He worked for G.M. and Keykert USA as a Automotive Supervisor. Christopher loved to work on his lawn and garden and his speciality was growing pumpkins. He loved his motorcycle and to go to the beach with his family for skiing and boating. Christopher is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children, Stacey (Kevin) Spiess of Tampa.FL, Shaina Simmons of Laingsburg and Richard (Kristina) Simmons of Dewitt, grandchildren, Ella, Christian and Hannah, brothers and sisters, Charles (Susan) Simmons, Muriel (Patrick) Lindsay, Rene (Rebecca) Simmons, Therese (Thomas) Hamming, Mary (Les) Vietzke and Tobias (Candy) Simmons and his parents Richard and Dorothy Simmons. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Emerson Spiess, brother Brion Simmons and mother and father in-law Doris and Arnie Davis. Memorials are suggested to "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep". I was so sad to hear about Chris. I worked with him at Keykert and loved to hear him laugh, it was easy to see how he enjoyed life. He will be missed but remembered fondly.
