Esther Carey Obituary

Esther I. Carey St. Johns Esther I. (Ritter) Carey, 83 of St. Johns, MI died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Ashley Care Center. Esther was born on March 29, 1927 in Maple Rapids, MI the daughter of Ernest and Blanche (Curtis) Moore. She attended St. Johns High School and had worked at Clinton Care Center, St. Johns Public Schools and was a member of First United Methodist Church. On October 15, 1944 she married Roland Ritter. He died in 1981. On May 14, 1983 she married Clifford C. Carey in St. Johns. He died January 4, 2009. She is survived by children, Daniel and Linda Ritter, Les and Rose, Brian and Linda K. and Suanne and Jeff Spicer, all of St. Johns; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; step children, Patricia Ann and Don Stocker of Charlotte, Clifford and Cathy Carey Jr. of Petoskey and Sharon A. and Doug Hildren of Lansing. Her brother Ken Moore preceded her in death as did infant daughter, Susan. Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 989-224-4422 on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lori Sykes officiating. Burial will follow at Stilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. or charity of donor's choice.
