Harry Mikan Obituary

Harry Mikan Ocala, FL Harry Mikan, formerly of Lansing, passed away Tuesday, April 6 at the age of 87. Harry was born March 24, 1923 to Victor and Winnifred Mikan in Durand, MI. Harry served in the United States Army during WWII and, among other battles, fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In the early 1970's he began working for the State of Michigan in the Department of Agriculture and finished his career with the state in the position of Chief of the Environmental Division. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor, Jr. and Frank, and his sisters, Helen and Jean. Harry's greatest joys in life were family, jazz and reading. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam Mikan of 8686-G SW 97th Ln Rd, Ocala, FL 34481; his children, Vicki (Mikan) Oberlin of Lansing, Teri Mikan of Okemos, and David and Sue Mikan of Pittsburgh; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jo Mikan of Durand, MI. Funeral Services were held in Ocala, FL on Friday, April 9 with interment at Florida National Cemetery with military funeral honors.
