Helen Brembeck Obituary

Helen Simpson Brembeck Age 93, of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Indiana formerly of Syracuse, Indiana died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born April 30, 1917 in Danville, Pennsylvania to Professor Frank M. and Mary (Wilson) Simpson. Helen married Cole Speicher Brembeck in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on June 28, 1942; he died June 4, 1996. She graduated from Grier High School, in Tyron, Pennsylvania in 1935, attended Bucknell University and graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in 1940. Helen was a member of P.E.O. since 1962 and Phi Beta Pi at Bucknell University. She was also a member of Grace Methodist Church in Urbana, Indiana and Lakeside Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is survived by her 2 children, Elizabeth (Frank) Zech of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Mark S. (Denise) Brembeck of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; 3 grandchildren, Michele Maule of Washington, Heather Maule of Hawaii, and Patricia Maule of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Geddes Simpson and James Simpson. A memorial service will be held at the Gazebo in Oakwood Park, Syracuse, Indiana at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010 with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Private burial will be in Speicher Cemetery, Urbana. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Speicher Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Judy Eltzroth, PO Box 163, Urbana, Indiana 46990 or Wilson College Scholarship Program at 1015 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg, Pennsylvania 17201.
