Jack Speight Obituary

Jack Speight Lansing Born December 7, 1930, passed away December 5, 2010 two days prior to his 80th birthday. Jack graduated from Sexton high school in 1946 and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Jack "Tiger" worked for the Board of Water & Light and retired in 1988 after 30 years as an operator and foreman. Jack was an avid bowler for over 40 years and this was something he shared with many of his friends and family. He enjoyed perfecting his golf game in his later years which was also a family event for him. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruthie in 2008, granddaughter Kelli Lynn, and brother Richard. Surviving are daughters Dawn Beals, Kathy (Keith) Summers-Harper, Karen Speight; son Douglas (Jane) Speight; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother Barney (Stephanie) Speight; and numerous nephews and nieces. A visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48906 in memory of Mr. Speight. On line condolences may be sent to: www.gorslineruncimanlansing.com

Karen, Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

My bowling day's are gone but the memory of your Dad and Mom taking me to all the bowling tounaments was the best times. And I can still here Jack saying "Slow that ball down". I'm going to miss Dear Ole Dad.

Doug, please accept my sympathies in the passing of your father. Know that you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. If he gives you any insight about the "golf courses in the sky," please let us in on it. In the meantime we'll let the heavens know that Jack's a-coming so F-O-R-E!!!!
