James Dayton Obituary

James M. Dayton Bullhead City, AZ James M. Dayton of Bullhead City, Arizona, formerly of Grand Ledge, Michigan, passed away December 25, 2010. Jim was born June 9, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan to Forrest and Shirley (nee Millard) Dayton. Jim graduated from Grand Ledge High School Class of 1965, was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired Clark Construction Superintendent. Jim was also a Past Post Commander and member of the American Legion Cole-Briggs Post #48 in Grand Ledge, member of the Bullhead City Elks #2406 and the Moose Lodge #1860 in Bullhead City. Jim is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy; son, Darren (Bridgit); step-sons, Robert and Thomas Hofstad; mother, Shirley Dayton; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (LeeAnn) and Scott (LuAnn). He is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his "almost son" Scott Hobner. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Forrest; sister, Bonnie Robertson; and nephew Troy Robertson. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 3, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge with The Reverend Nicolette L. Siragusa of the Grand Ledge First Congregation United Church of Christ. Interment to follow with military honors at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Guest book entries and online condolences may be made at www.holihanatkin.com
