Jane N. Leifheit

Jane N. Leifheit Grand Ledge Born January 3, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan, Jane was called home to the Lord on August 27, 2009 at the age of 96. 'Grandma Jane' devoted her life to every generation of her family, filling their lives with love and laughter. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Holy Cross Charter Club, and the St. Frances Assisi Circle where she shared her faith, fellowship, and talents for many years. Jane is survived by two sisters, Genevieve Viers and Virginia DeFrenn; her son Roger (Mary) Leifheit; her daughter Donna (Larry) Park; three grand-daughters: Nicole (Jeff) Brown, Jennifer Mastrovito, Sarah Bates; and four great-grandchildren: Kyle and Evan Bates, and Jack and Kaitlin Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Antonina Phillips; brothers Frank, John, Joseph, Steven, Stanley, Albert, Walter and Edward Phillips; sisters Helen Horaney, Nellie Derr, Lottie Monroe, Stella Bila, Ann Alexander; and her loving husband of 50 years, Ervin (Pete) Leifheit. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 at St. Mary Cathedral with Rev. Fr. Bernard Reilly as celebrant followed by interment in Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing, on Sunday, August 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Hospice House of Mid-Michigan and Independence Village Grand Ledge/Senior Home Care Solutions for the tender, loving care they provided for her.
