When a teenager, in the 1980s a friend of mine and I would go to the Wheel on early Saturday and Sunday mornings after our paper routes. The weekends were mornings we always looked forward to. I was proud to have her recognize me when I came in for breakfast. Mrs. O'Leary made me feel as if we were important customers, although my friend and I would only buy pancakes and coffee, at 14 or 15 years old. We felt as if we were important customers because we always were served free refills of coffee. I was able stop in every now and then with two other friends of mine who were 60 years older than me, but still close and dear friends. Now circumstances have changed for me, but happy memories of this kind lady and her generosity toward a couple of guys who were probably served more coffee than they deserved is a great memory to recall. I was proud at the time to be able call her by name in the restaurant to say good morning,

I was sadden to hear of Jaunita's passing. She provided me with many valuable life lessons, especially the value of hard work and perseverance. I have many fond memories of my time washing dishes at the Wheel Inn. Most of which still make me laugh to this day. God Bless her.

I give Juanita credit for my being able to graduate from college without massive student debt. She scheduled me every other weekend and over school vacations during my senior year, which allowed me to pay my bills and have money left over to spend. I was still wearing my orange skirt and working at the Wheel after graduation and right up until landing my first job in the field I studied. Juanita was supportive during college and proud to see me move on, but I learned a lot about how to be an employee from working for her. It wasn't until I had been away from the Wheel for a number of years that I realized what a trailblazer she had been as a female business owner. Juanita played a role in the careers of an awful lot of us, and I will always be grateful that she gave me a job.

I WORKED FOR JUANTA, IN THE YEAR OF 1952 WHEN SHE HAD THE CAR-HOP.MY TWIN AND MY MOTHER ALSO WORKED WITH HER. SHE WAS A GREAT LEADER, AND SHE REALLY WORKED HARD. I LATER MARRIED AND MY HUSBAND GARRY WORKED FOR SYSCO, AND HE TRYED TO GET HER TO BUY FROM HIM, BUT SHE WAS SET IN HER WAYS, AND WAS HAPPY WHERE SHE WAS.WHEN WE OPENED UP OUR BUSINESS IN DEWITT IN 1976, SHE CAME IN AND WISHED US THE VERY BEST. I WILL ALWAY ADMIRE HER GRACE, AND SHE ALWAYS REMEMBER A FACE. GARRY AND I SEND OUR SINCERE SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY
