Katherine A. Strefling

Katherine A. Strefling Lansing Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2010. Katherine was born August 12, 1920 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Maksyni and Catherine Lewandowsky. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, and lived in Lansing all her life. Katherine married her husband Ernest in 1944, and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansing. Katherine cherished her family. She was a wonderful mother, and caring for her children was always her greatest joy. Katherine was a very gifted homemaker, cook, and seamstress. She also loved music and dancing, and in her younger years, swimming and ice skating. Katherine will be fondly remembered for her charming personality and sense of humor, and will be dearly missed. Katherine is survived by her husband, Ernest; son, Christian (Mary) of Manistee; daughter, Barbara of Lansing; grandson, Paul of East Lansing; and sister, Mary Higgins of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia; parents; and brothers, Andrew Lewandowsky and Alex Lewandowsky. There will be a visitation held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. A private funeral service will be held Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
