Katherine Kronauge Obituary

Katherine Virginia Roehm Kronauge Earth lost and Heaven gained a most beautiful woman when Katherine Virginia Roehm Kronauge stepped into eternity and rejoined her beloved Husband, William George Kronauge on November 12, 2010. Virginia was born September 25, 1912, in Dayton, Ohio, to Dr. William and Bessie Llewellyn Roehm. Virginia graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Art. Virginia was an extremely gifted student and an Ohio State Beauty Queen. Bill and Virginia were married on October 19, 1940. Family life was celebrated in homes in Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan, and in 1959 they settled in Jackson. Virginia especially enjoyed painting portraits of her family. Her love was made visible on other canvases found in the homes of friends in Jackson and elsewhere. Bill and Virginia were long-time members at Jackson Country Club. She never said an unkind word about another human being. She was capable of understanding the unfathomable. All who knew and loved her celebrated her thoughtfulness and gentility. Virginia's life is celebrated by her family; Daughters Martha (Louis J.) Eyde of Okemos, and Helen (Kenwood C.) Curtis of Kildeer, IL, Grandchildren Peter Barth Van Winkle II (Tammie Z.) of Grand Island, NE; Kenwood William (Amy C.) Curtis of McKinney, TX; Katherine Melissa (Simon C. Wirth) Curtis, PhD., of Crystal Lake, IL; and Charles Kronauge Van Winkle of Plymouth, MI; Step-Grandchildren, Samuel C., Peter M. , Daniel L., and Kelly M. Eyde of Okemos; and Deborah A. (Robert Miller) Eyde of Ann Arbor; Great Grandchildren, Roehm and Shae Van Winkle, Devany Curtis, Nathan Wirth; Step-Great Grandchildren Eric, Samantha, Kara, Gabriel, Jacob, Olivia, Katrina, Kellyn, Octavia, Anthony, Angela, and Ava Eyde, plus Sofia and Eden Miller. Virginia leaves her nieces Virginia (Peter) Roche of Enon, OH; Ellen (John) Williams of Troy, OH; and Sarah (Richard) Brown, of Trafalgar, IN. Virginia was predeceased by sisters Ann Wilkerson of Madison, GA and Margaret Wilkerson of Fairborn, OH; niece Margaret (Robert) Epps of Madison, GA; and Step-Grandson, David J. (Jeanne) Eyde of Ada, MI. A private family ceremony has taken place. May we all emulate her kindness and grace.
