Kisti Lyn Heerens Beckwith Los Fresnos, TX Kisti Lyn Heerens Beckwith, formerly of Stockbridge, MI, was born December 22, 1944 and died September 30, 2009. She was one of the kindest, most gentle souls ever to walk among us. Her supple strength, her artist's eyes and heart, her broad intellect and quick wit made the world a more beautiful place. Thank you, Kisti, for spending some time with us. She is survived by her husband, Sidney A.; children, Lysne (Craig) Tait, Ben (Monica) Beckwith, and Nathan Beckwith; father, Robert E. Heerens; sisters, Jill (David) Windahl, Nancy (Ralph) Knudson, Robin Lysne, and Sara Heerens; niece, Laura Knudson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Services were held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Unity Church in Brownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maggie's House (www.cccacmh.org) or to Unity of Brownsville would be appreciated. Although I haven't seen Kisti in quite a few years, she still has impressed my life. I remember her as a free spirit - open to new ideas and ways of living, and always with a ready smile. She offered to design a personalized birth announcement for my first child, a daughter, and delivered them to my front door the day my daughter was born. Sixteen years later, my daughter was fortunate to have Lysne as one of her high school teachers. Along the way, Kisti and Lysne came to my home for piano lessons.

I recall my amazement at the fact the Sydney and Kisti were building their own home. Kisti had many stories about projects and progress on the house- which seemed to be always evolving.

In recent years, I've enjoyed visiting and helping with projects on the Beckwith property that is in the Washtenaw Land Trust, in Stockbridge, MI. I think of Kisti and her family when I'm there.

My caring thoughts are with Lysne, and all of Kisti's family.

I'm an old friend from Lansing, Mi. and Unity of Greater Lansing. We were on the board together and long time prayer partners. Kisti drew a beautiful picture of my Spirit Guide and gave it to me one evening back in "77"". It is my most important picture. It was a spirit drawing and hangs in my room where ever I live. I have shared the story of my friendship with Kisti and Barbara with everyone who could understand that level of living and sharing. "Kisti say hi to Barbara for me. I'll see you when it is my time. I will continue our prayers as ever. I wish I had known you were in Texas.

Your art was "you." You left a wonderful legacy to your family and friends. I'm proud to have known you, and even prouder that you called me "friend." I have your art work all over my house, as does my daughter, Kirstin. You'll always be with me.

I'm so sad to hear of Kisti's death. Having known her since 1965, she has always been one of my most favorite people. Her touch in my life was light, and always relevant. She guided me in many ways, and challenged me. Even if we didn't see or talk to each other for a while, the conversations were always picked up, built upon, and both satisfying and fruitful. She shared her family with me in the early years. Her leaving has put a hole in the fabric.

I remember lots, but will share that I loved the way she would wind her legs around each other when she sat. She used to bake bread every day in Crested Butte--so good. She taped a bow to Lysne's head before L. got hair! She had the ability to sit down beside a piece of fabric, and cut out whatever she wanted to sew--pants, shirts, jackets. Amazing!! And she laughed. She engaged. She also journeyed on her own path. She invited one to journey with her. And those invitations were always out of the 9 dots.

Seeing her in July was one of those wonderful experiences that can barely be talked about. She was precious, loving, wonderful--and I'll miss her.
