Margaret Nichols Obituary

Margaret L. (Niles) Nichols Grand Ledge Age 89, passed away August 12, 2009. Margaret was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 18, 1920. She was a lifetime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, working with the Stars and Stripes newspaper in Italy and North Africa. Her interests have included volunteer work with the Sparrow Hospital Auxiliary, and in the past few years vacationing and golfing in Jensen Beach, Florida and Leland, Michigan. In recent years she was an avid card game player and all around good sport with her friends at Independence Village in Grand Ledge. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Betty and son-in-law, David Underwood of Lansing. In addition, she is survived by several cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; parents, Donovan and Grace Niles; and brother, Gene (Ruth) Niles. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with Pastor Paul J. Lindloff officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Monday, August 17. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. Donations, if desired, in memory of Margaret may be made to Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
