Marjorie Darbon Obituary

Marjorie Darbon Haslett Born November 21, 1921 to the Late Orvil and Flo Lawrence; Marjorie Marion Darbon died June 10, 2010 at the age of 88. She grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan. During WWII she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" at the Diamond REO factory in Lansing. After the war, she worked at Knapps and Jacobsons. Marjorie took great pride in her home; inside and out. She also loved spending time with family and friends on Drummond Island. There were countless days spent fishing or exploring the island and most evenings ended with a campfire. Rain or shine, there was always laughter at the Darbon camp! Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Neil M. Darbon; and sisters Edie Lawrence and Bonnie Webb. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Bill) Porterfield; son Greg (Susie) Darbon; grandchildren Melisa Porterfield, Amanda (Eric-Sean) Gotcher, and Elizabeth Darbon; great-grandchildren Colter Sutton, Halen, Karley and EJ Gotcher; brother Keith Lawrence, and sister Jane Lawrence. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing with the Rev. Mark Inglot officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 310 N. Main, Suite 100, Chelsea, MI 48118 in memory of Marjorie. Online condolences may be made at www.gorslineruncimaneastlansing.com
