Nellie Krouse Obituary

Nellie Marie Krouse Holt On August 25, 2009 Nellie Marie Krouse celebrated her 99th birthday. On Sept. 19, 2009 she passed on to be with her beloved "Freckles" (Clifford). She was born on a farm in Clare, MI to Albert and Jennie Smith. "Freckles" as well as sisters Mary Siel and Charlotte Reynolds preceded her in death. A brother, Arthur Smith, of Mt. Pleasant survives as well as her special friend and caregiver, Darlene Bayhan; nephew, Wayne Alward; sister-in-law, Florence Kendall; as well as several other nieces and nephews. Nellie and Freckles were married over 72 years, most of which were spent on the same street in North Lansing. She was a very strong and agile person who up until the last year would pull the drapes on Saturday night and dance by herself when Lawrence Welk was on T.V. She even went swimming on her 85th birthday. She will always be remembered for her immaculate housekeeping. The family will receive friends Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Deepdale Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 4110 Lansing Road, Lansing at 11:00a.m. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI 48917 in memory of Nellie. Online condolences may be made to www.gorslineruncimanfuneralhomes.com.
