Pansy Gardner Obituary

Pansy L. Gardner Bellevue Pansy L. Gardner, 87, died Saturday September 18, 2010 surrounded by family. She was born on February 17, 1923 in Allegan County to William and Loretta (Fox) Gilger. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1940. Pansy married Frank E. Pettit on April 19, 1942 which later ended in divorce. She then married Elmer M. Gardner in Kalamazoo Michigan on March 19, 1948. They moved to the Bellevue area in 1950. Elmer died in November of 1993. Pansy worked at Otto's clothing store in Bellevue for many years and was the Bellevue Village and Township Treasurer for several years until retiring in 1988. Pansy is survived by a daughter, Judy (Pettit) and Vito Ragusa of Battle Creek; three sons, Charles (Kris) Gardner of Battle Creek, Brad (Emma) Gardner of Battle Creek and Rick (Debra) Gardner of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Near of Hastings and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Alan Love; a great-grandson, Bryce Balfour; a sister, Hilda Beckwith and six brothers, Dale, Leroy, Hollis, Ray, Clair, and George Gilger. Pansy will always be remembered for her wonderful baking and cooking , as well as her sewing. The family would like to thank Bobbi Easter and her staff at W Drive North Assisted Living for their tender loving care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother during her last days. The family received friends from 2 until 4:00 p.m. and 6 until 8:00 p.m. September 20, 2010 at Shaw Funeral Home Lehman Chapel, 205 N. Elizabeth Street in Bellevue. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Bellevue United Methodist Church, 122 West Capitol Avenue in Bellevue with Pastor Virginia Heller officiating. Interment, Floral Lawn Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to W Drive North Assisted Living or the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue. www.shawfuneralhome.com

Sorry I was unable to attend visitation or the funeral. I know Pansy never really recognized me out at Bobbi's but she would smile when I talked to her. I know mom's going to miss her and all of your visits. Take care.
