Rachel Kras Obituary

Rachel Kras Heath, TX Age 89, passed away May 18, 2010. She was born December 31, 1920, in Dresden, TN, to Rufus and Bera (Cantrell) Maxey. Rachel was an artist who taught drawing and art history to children, as well as a fashion designer and couture dress maker. She enjoyed cooking with herbs she grew in her own garden. Rachel also painted personalized, watercolored cards for her family and friends. She served on the City of Lansing Mental Health Board and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. She is survived by her husband: Stephan Kras of Heath, TX; daughters: Colleen Hanna and husband Ron of Heath, TX, and Jaclyn Kras of Greytown, New Zealand; grandchildren: Paige Hanna of Denton, TX, and Lindsey Hanna of Heath, TX; sister-in-law: Mildred Kras; and loving nieces and nephews. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; sister: Mary Schuon and husband Jack; brother: Wilfred Maxey and wife Wilma; and brothers-in-law Joe Kras, Mike Kras and wife Loraine, Jim Green and wife Alice and Walt Green and wife Margarete. A memorial service will be held 1:30p.m., Sunday, May 23, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 408 Park Ave., Dallas, TX 75201 with Dr. Cynthia Logan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Foundation. Services under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rockwall, TX.
