His participation was really important. I imagine he is now in some place with Art and Carl, enjoying, talking and remembering those nice times.

Dear Family,
I was very sorry to hear of Dr. Murray's passing. I knew him through the Friends of Beaver Island group at Central Michigan University. He loved talking about the wonderful times he and his family shared on the Island. He was proud of his "Beaver Island room" in his condo and all his artworks by Mary Rose from the BI toystore. I'm so glad our paths crossed. He was a special, gentle man. Gail Moore

It saddened me greatly to hear of Ray's passing. I remember Ray as a gentleman and scholar, and he had tremendous influence on me as a teacher, mentor, role model, colleague and friend. His brilliance and intellectual curiosity combined with common sense and practical experience, kindness, understanding and a great sense of humor made him very special. Over the years he was supportive and helpful to me, and always showed interest in my professional and personal endeavors. He taught me a great deal about professionalism, caring for people, and being a good doctor and a good person. I loved hearing his stories and anecdotes, and seeing the delight he took in telling them - especially the family stories of his children's antics were they were young.
My condolences to the family and those who loved and were loved by him. May your fondest and most joyful memories stay with you, and may Ray's spirit be kept by all who knew and loved him.

To the Family of Raymond Murray, MD, MACP
I was deeply saddened to hear of Ray’s passing last night. I regret not being personally present to offer my condolences. Ray was an important part of my development as an academic physician and he served as my role model by personally demonstrating how gentleman and person of integrity while dealing with difficult issues. Ray was supportive, kind, and forgiving to those less talented and able than himself (and I should know). He guided me and gently propelled me into new experiences that I thought were beyond my abilities and eventual(to my great surprise) successes. If Ray had not retired as Chairman at MSU, I probably would be there now in some capacity, working among colleagues he introduced me to, with people I greatly admire.

Dear Murray's:
We are thankful for the summers on Beaver Island with Ray and your family. We will always remember the treasure hunts, hikes and plays that Ray orchestrated for so many years...providing prizes for everyone. I am also grateful for the excellent care that he provided for my father. Beaver Island will never be quite the same...Ray will truly be missed by many of all ages.

To the family of Dr. Murray,
I was sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Dr. Murray this past weekend. If the measure of a man is the number of lives he has touched and enriched during a lifetime, then Dr. Murray must be considered a giant. I appreciate so much his picture in the bowtie- as I always will remember him, a consummate gentleman, a gracious professional, and a kind person. Thank you for the chance to write. He will be sorely missed at the Michigan American College of Physicians, and by myself personally.

Dear Family,
I offer my condolences on the passing of my friend and colleage Ray Murray. I've known Ray since he was in practice here in Grand Rapids and have followed his career at Michigan State and subsequently when he served as Governor and advisor to the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Physicians. I missed him at our recent ACP meeting in Traverse City. He and I served as advisors in the appointment of our current governor Ruth Hoppe MD. His ability to sense and determine what's right for patient was right for medicine. He was articulate, percise and humble to all. He will be missed by his colleages and all who had the privilege and honor to know him.
Sincerely,
Vernon E Wendt MD, FACP, FACC
