Dear Family,

I was very sorry to hear of Dr. Murray's passing. I knew him through the Friends of Beaver Island group at Central Michigan University. He loved talking about the wonderful times he and his family shared on the Island. He was proud of his "Beaver Island room" in his condo and all his artworks by Mary Rose from the BI toystore. I'm so glad our paths crossed. He was a special, gentle man. Gail Moore

It saddened me greatly to hear of Ray's passing. I remember Ray as a gentleman and scholar, and he had tremendous influence on me as a teacher, mentor, role model, colleague and friend. His brilliance and intellectual curiosity combined with common sense and practical experience, kindness, understanding and a great sense of humor made him very special. Ray was supportive, kind, and forgiving to those less talented and able than himself (and I should know). He guided me and...

Dear Murray's:
We are thankful for the summers on Beaver Island with Ray and your family. We will always remember the treasure hunts, hikes and plays that Ray orchestrated for so many years...providing prizes for everyone. I am also grateful for the excellent care that he provided for my father. Beaver Island will never be quite the same...Ray will truly be missed by many of all ages.
Fondly,
The Grieve family
