Richard Adkins Obituary

Richard Ray Adkins Apache Junction, AZ Formerly of Lansing Born October 17, 1928 in Fort Worth, TX the son of Eli and Odell (Pirtle) Adkins, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 in Apache Junction, AZ. Richard worked as a Truck Driver for 39 years, driving for Capital Steel, Owens Illinois-Charlotte, Cutler & Georgia Pacific. He last worked for the U.S. Forestry Services, a Security Guard and Park Manager all in Apache Junction, AZ. Richard loved his family and will be remembered as a hard working man who always had a great sense of humor. He kept his hands busy, making gifts for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, John McQuay; and 3 brothers: Harold Lloyd, Elvis Eugene and John Adkins. Surviving is his wife Lorraine of 26 years; 5 children: Linda (Russ) McQuay, Jimmy (Donna) Adkins, Bill Nesbitt, David (Kim) Hallett and Bobbie (Kevin) Beaver; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;, a special cousin, Ruth Harton; a stepmother, Frankie Lucille Adkins; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 520 E. Mt. Hope Ave., with Brother David Stephens of Life Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia at 1:00 p.m. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85014. Condolences can be made at www.palmerbush.com.
