Roy Markey Obituary

Roy Markey Roy Markey passed away June 27, 2010, while a resident at Sparrow Hospice House of Mid Michigan, Lansing. His former wife, Mary Alice (Cowles), preceded him in death in 2007. Roy is survived by two sons, Michael of Haslett and Christopher of Perrington, MI, as well as many dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy was born near South Haven, MI, and attended Michigan State University before forming The Roary Corporation with branch locations in Jackson and Howell. Roy believed that affordable housing should be available to all. His additional companies, Be Mark Homes and J & L Investments, were created to use his land development skills in southwest Lansing toward rebuilding neighborhoods to provide adequate housing and services conducive to safety and stability. Plans for a future memorial service to celebrate his life are incomplete. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may consider the following charitable organizations: Habitat for Humanity- Lansing, 1941 Benjamin, Lansing, MI 48906; Community of Christ Church, 1514 West Miller, Lansing, MI 48910; or Siren Eaton Shelter, 245 South Cochran, PO Box 369, Charlotte, MI 48813.
