Dear Will and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Although it was so many years ago when she was my music teacher at Pinecrest, I remember her fondly. She left an imprint in people's lives that will never be forgotten. I love what she has done for this world I am thankful for having crossed paths with her. My heartfelt condolences go to you and your family.

Jim,
Sally was a lovely woman. She shines so brightly that it must seem dark to you. Alas, she is just on the other side. A mere rotation and you will see the light again.
Peace be with you.

Dear Jim, It was such a shock to see the notice in the LSJ. Our hearts are with you and your sons - and all of the LATTICE members and the wider circle of friends and family that were touched by her wonderful, productive, and inclusive energy - energy that seemed always channeled towards impacting positive change in our world.

We will miss Sally. Years ago Anne-Marie was rehearsing for a musical at MSU and Sally gave Anne-Marie the key so she could practice on her beautiful piano. That was just the kind of person she was

Mrs. McClintock was my music teacher at Central Elementary School in East Lansing in the 1960's. She contributed greatly to my interest in music and singing...I can still sing, word-for-word, many of the popular show tunes of the day! She made learning fun! My sympathy to her entire family. Also from my dad, a former "backyard neighbor" on University Dr.

Few people walked into a room with as much grace, confidence, and quiet strength as Sally, and no one brought a smile to my face as easily at the same time. I am grateful for how she touched my life and the lives of those I love. I will miss her.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Sally was always a shining spot in the Al-Anon meetings. I never saw her in a bad mood...she was always a ray of sunshine. Although I didn't know her well, I will miss her experience, strength and hope that she willingly shared with the group. Peace be with her.

Sally was such an inspiration to so many...young and old...worldwide. Her work with LATTICE and in South Africa will have a lasting impact for generations of the students touched by her passion for education and social change. The shared kindness of both Jim and Sally has enriched all our lives...she will be deeply missed.

We were blessed when Jim & Sally started to summer in Boothbay Harbor. We looked forward to their return every year. We enjoyed many gatherings & pot-lucks over the years, but most of all we enjoyed their friendship, love, & understanding in so many ways. Sally once suggested that I write down 100 things that I would like to do in my life. I wrote them down & realized my desire & love for travel. Sally urged me gently & with kindness to live fully in this life. Steve & I will miss her very much. Much love to Jim & family members.

This summer, coincidentally, I planned a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, and also thought I'd drop in on Jim and Sally. When I learned of Sally's diagnosis, I was able, thanks to their graciousness, to spend the day with them. Sally, Jim and I go back to the early 1960s and we had lots to talk about and to remember. There was a lot of laughter, and some photo opportunities. I went home to Jonesport, Maine, filled with good will and overwhelmed with the grace, dignity, humor and warmth of these two wonderful people.

Sally's enthusiasm and leadership advancing global shared service was just one of her qualities we admired. She was a wonderful fellow Sprucewold neighbor--generous and creative. Wish we had seen more of her and her family this summer, but timing was impossible. Our love to Jim and family, Carol and Ray Hopkins (BBH, ME}.
