Thomas Jakeway Obituary

Thomas Neil Jakeway Lansing Born to George and Beatrice Jakeway on September 19, 1931. Passed peacefully unto our Lord with his wife and family by his side on September 30, 2010 at the age of 79 in Lansing where he was a life-long resident. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force where he fell in love with his wife, Betty of 55 years while stationed in Topeka, Kansas. Tom was a proud member of the first graduating class of Lansing Community College and received a degree in Electrical Technologies. He was hired into the Board of Water and Light as an Electrical Engineer and retired as Superintendant of the Line Department. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Maridell Vincent and Doris Cloar. Surviving are his wife, Betty; daughter, Tammy Fischer; son, Timothy Jakeway; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Brittany Fischer; uncles, Bob Jakeway and Dr. Wade Jakeway; brothers, Norman (Vonnie) Jakeway, Spencer (Bonnie) Jakeway; sisters, Judy (Gene) Gibson, Linda Jakeway and Leslie Jakeway. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. Military interment will be at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing on October 23, 2010, 2:00 p.m. Tom was loved and cherished by family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Donations may be made in Tom's name to Hospice House of Mid Michigan, 1215 E. Michigan Ave., P.O. Box 30480, Lansing 48909. I will always remember the times we spent at lake Delta cat fishing, and getting up early to him cookin breakfast and me not wanting to get up. Also the saturday morning chess games where we would talk and just as i call it now 'hang out". You will always be in my heart and soul. Love you.
