Family and friends

Dr. Willard C. Hooks, Jr. Ph.D.

September 26, 2011

Cynthia, Kirsten, family, and friends,

Family and friends,

I regret that I just learned of Mrs. Primes passing into a glorious life yesterday (25 September 2011). Otherwise, I would have been in Lansing to share and to extend my condolences to the family. Mrs. Primes was a devoted member of the Black Catholic Community and was selected by the late Bishop Kenneth Povish as a delegate to the Seventh Black Catholic Congress in New Orleans, La (1992).

She served as a member of the Black Lansing Area Catholics and was an advisor to me for the Black Catholic Ministry Office Council.

We were members and St. Mary Cathedral Parish until I moved away in 1997. However, we kept in touch with each other over the years. A dedicated and devoted Catholic is what I can remember the most. I pray that her legacy of devotion is passed onto the next generation.

In 1986 Mr. Primes and she welcomed me to St Mary Cathedral parish when I moved to Michigan State to pursue graduate studies. I am truly disappointed that I did not see Mrs, Primes in my last visit to Lansing (July, 2011). I left voice a message, but she may have been out of town again.

However, I trust that she will be welcoming many of us at Heaven's gate in a time to come. In that eternal place, she is now at home to stay.

Sincerely,

Dr. Willard C. Hooks, Jr.
