Mildred Armstrong Obituary

Mildred Mae Millie Armstrong EARTH-Millie Armstrong, 85, of Lubbock, died on Jan. 9, 2015. She was born to the late Hobby and Walta Thomas on Oct. 15, 1929, in Plainview, Texas. Millie graduated from Cotton Center High School and later received a BS in Education from Texas Tech University in 1970. She married the late Bob Armstrong on June 27, 1948, and they made their home in Earth, Texas, for many years before moving to Ruidoso, NM for several years, and then settling in Lubbock in 1998. Millie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cay Shaw and Jeanne Allen; and her brother, Hobby Thomas, Jr. Millie enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling, playing bridge and fishing with Bob. While in Earth, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and held several leadership positions. She was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of NBA basketball. Millie is survived by three children, Logan and his wife, Ginger of Austin, Neal and his wife, Pam of Austin, and Karen Swink of Crosbyton. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of choice. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with a reception beginning at 9 a.m. Graveside services to follow at 2 p.m. in the Earth Cemetery. My mother's favorite sister and my favorite aunt. Millie will be deeply missed. We loved her very,very much and she always made us laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. Love, Hobby Kuehnast

Sharon and I had the great pleasure of being Millie's next door neighbor for the last years of her life. She and I would meet often in the alley while she walked Jo Dan and I walked my Bichons. Rush Wells
