Joycie Hagins Parker

Joycie Hagins Parker LUBBOCK-Joycie Eloise Jane Hagins Parker, precious mother, grandmother, and Memaw, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, in Carrollton, Texas. She was born to Poet Leon Hagins and Elizabeth Melissa Pitcox on March 6, 1930, in Meadow, Texas. Joycie graduated from Spur High School in 1946 and married Eldred Lee Parker in Spur on March 7, 1947. Eldred passed away in 1993, a few days before their 46th wedding anniversary. They moved to Lubbock in 1950, where she resided until 2012. Joycie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Rosa Lee Taylor, Dollie Blair, and Joan McWhorter; brother, Junior Hagins; grandson, Darin Ferrier; and great-grandson, Eli Galbincea. She is survived by children, Wayne Parker and wife, Paula, of Gainesville, Texas, Karen Bitzer and husband, Jay, of Garland, Texas, Rodney Parker and wife, Sandy, of Austin, Texas, and Karla Bryant and husband, Joe, of McKinney, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren - each one the apple of her eye and the joy of her life; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Joycie and Eldred operated Alamo Cleaners from 1970 to 1984. They were founding members of the Kuntry Kuzzins Square Dance Club in the 1960s. She loved to cook for friends and family. Everyone was welcome at her table - no invitation needed. She was an excellent seamstress, a subtle but adept, practical joker, and a darn good domino player. She loved deeply and unconditionally each and every family member and friend. She was caring, compassionate, and kind to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed, and we all will have a piece of her love forever in our hearts. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, Lubbock, Texas.
