I never knew him that well since I was only 6 when he passed. What I do remember is his smile though. It made everyone feel happy and welcomed he never got to meet his new great grandson (my brother) Asher but I know he would have given so much care and love towards him as he did to everyone. Him and his smile is forever in my heart.

Dear Aud, Sonja and Eric, I just read of Papa Kris's passing. That is what we all called him when we were kids and you all lived next year. I have such fond memories of all of you. I remember the time Kris came to my fifth grade class and gave a demonstration on lasers to my class. The school was so excited that he was coming they brought all the fifth grade classes into our classroom for the presentation. I was so proud to have brought such an amazing visitor to my school. It is a comforting thought that he is now in heaven with Dad and my brother Jim. God bless you all, Kathryn Walton Placek

We keep fond memories of our "host family" (for international students) during Pierre's PhD study time in Lubbock. Magne was truly remarkable in many ways.

I had Kris at TTU in the late 60's for several classes. He told us great stories about his early life. He told us once when he was applying from grants from NSA, etc he went in person so they'd remember the guy with the 'funny' accent.

I never took a class from him.
I never was a student under him.
But
he always had a smile for me.
He asked me once if I was 'smart' or 'clever' and many's the time I wish he'd told me his opinion...
He cast a wide shadow of inspiration.
Another Olympean in Seacat's pantheon.
May God receive him as he received others, and may his family and friends carry on in the same fine way.

Condolences to Kris' family. One of his great contributions was his unfailing professionalism and collegiality, especially in the demanding situations that EE faculty faced in the 1980s. We are all beneficiaries of Kris' example.

As a student at Texas Tech (BSEE 1970), I was honored to pursue my MSEE 1972 under Dr. Kristiansen. He was a great mentor, motivator and research leader. I had an overwhelming urge to google his name today only to learn of his recent passing. I am deeply saddened by this news.

Aud, my thoughts are with you and your family. Kris was a special person. He influenced not only the field of pulsed power but the direction of Texas Tech. From my interactions with him over a 30-year period, I came to admire not only his accomplishments as a researcher and faculty member but also his personal qualities of integrity and consideration for others.
