Dorothy Andrews Obituary

Dorothy Collins Andrews PLAINVIEW-Dorothy Collins Andrews, 94, of Plainview, Texas, passed away in her home on Monday, March 14, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Jim McCartney officiating. A private burial will follow. A rosary will be held on Thursday, March 17, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview. Dorothy was born on July 21, 1921, to Jess and Ida Collins. She married John Andrews on June 24, 1945, in Big Spring, Texas. She adored her children seeing and appreciating the uniqueness of each. She was a member of the Pink Ladies and an active member of the St. Alice Catholic Church and Altar Society baking many a pumpkin pie. An artist, cook and bon vivant, she was a loving, caring, feisty, one of a kind prairie gal. She is survived by son, James Andrews of Plainview; a daughter, Liz Andrews and her wife Katrina Madsen of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren, Daryl Andrews, Elijah Madsen Andrews; and one great-grandchild, Tristen Cinelli. She is preceded in death by her husband John Andrews; her son, John Collins Andrews and two brothers, Jess Collins and Roy Collins. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels at PO Box 1984 Plainview, TX 79072; Hale County Senior Citizen Center 1107 Smythe St. Plainview, TX 79072; St. Francis Mission Sisters 8202 CR 7700 Wolfforth, TX 79382.
