Clara Jean Ford

Clara Jean Ford, 71, of Lufkin, was born February 3, 1937, in San Augustine, Texas, the daughter of the late Nancy (Pitts) and Clarence Chumley. She passed away Monday, September 15, 2008, in a local hospital. Ms. Ford was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the morning manager of Chick-fil-A for 12 years. Ms. Ford was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Charles Ford, Jr. of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Brenda Ford of Huntington; sisters, Aline Drawhorn of Nacogdoches, Katherine Newberry of San Augustine and Mary Harris of Houston; grandchildren, Tamara Hooks, Jessica Ford, Crystal Renfro and Robert Dwayne Ford; and great-grandchildren, Bailey Hooks, Carson Hooks, Zack Tobias, Chelsea Berry and Brayden Renfro. In addition to her parents, Ms. Ford was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl E. Chumley and Calvin C. Chumley; sister, Doyce Hardy; and grandson, Shawn Ford. Pallbearers will be Robert Boles, Chris Hooks, Paul Drawhorn, Mike Hardy, Ron Risenhoover and Steven Hannah. Services for Ms. Ford will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Walter Futch and Reverend Ford Atkins officiating.
