Doris Ellis Obituary

Doris Taylor Ellis -COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA - Doris Taylor Ellis, 88, of Colonial Heights, a native of Brunswick County and daughter of the late Arthur L. and Blanche Brewer Taylor, completed her life journey on August 31, 2011. -She graduated from Longwood State Teachers College and served as a librarian at NC State. Later she was employed with the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond before becoming an employee of Rucker Rosenstock in the credit department, then a homemaker and a sales associate. Mrs. Ellis was the devoted wife of Raymon R. Ellis for 31 years. -She is survived by four children, Anne Ellis Bowman and husband, Charles, and George A. Ellis, all of Colonial Heights, Carol Ellis Ferrell and husband, Bobby of Macon, Georgia, and Gary Nelson Ellis and wife, Samantha of Dinwiddie; eight grandchildren, Jeff Bowman of Colonial Heights, Eric Bowman and wife, Brandi of Dinwiddie, William Ellis and wife, Mei of Christiansburg, Stacey Ellis of Richmond, Erin Ferrell and Lindsey Roberts and husband, Zach, all of Macon, Georgia; Electra Jane and Raymond Ellis, both of Dinwiddie; six great-grandchildren, Chase, Ayden and Brandyn Bowman, all of Virginia; Austin Burkey, Garrett and Braxton Roberts, all of Georgia; and a special niece, Mrs. Jerolien Chaney of Kenbridge. She was predeceased by her one sister, Mrs. Carolyn T. Clarke of Lawrenceville, and her one brother, Arthur Earl Taylor of Emporia. -A private memorial service will be held at a later date. -Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. -Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
