Carlton W. Rausch, age 88, of Marysville, formerly of Plain City, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a longtime dairy farmer on the border of Union and Madison counties. He graduated from Chuckery Darby High School and received a bachelor's degree in agriculture education from The Ohio State University. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in Korea from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chuckery, Ohio. After retiring from farming, he received an associate's degree in accounting technology from Clark State University and worked for H and R Block for many years. During his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and restoring antiques and also enjoyed volunteering in the antique farm equipment building for the annual Ohio State University Farm Science Review. With farming always in his blood, he also worked side by side with his late wife, Margaret in retirement and together they provided family, friends and the local farmer's market patrons with delicious, vine-ripened produce. He was born April 14, 1930 in Darby Township to the late Gerhard and Minnie Scheiderer Rausch. He was also preceded in death on Nov. 6, 2016 by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Jean Arledge Rausch, whom he married Dec. 19, 1958 at King Avenue United Methodist Church. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Karen) Rausch of Marysville, Joyce (Paul) Ries of Maryville, Tennessee and Linda (Anthony) Jula of Blacklick; eight grandchildren, Christine Rausch, Kendra (John) Clendineng, Elizabeth (Matt) Jones, Rebekah (Nathanael) Yellis, Wendy (Ryan) Tribble, Catherine Jula, Megan Jula, , and Nathaniel Jula; and nine great-grandchildren Silas, Titus, Micah, Lydia, Rosie, Edward, Arthur, Alexis and Lilah; three sisters, Luella Puckett of Washington Court House, Eleanor (Lewis) Sale of Columbus and Margaret (Don) Bailey of Marysville; two brothers-in-law, Carl (Shirley) Arledge, Jr., of Bellefontaine and Jim Arledge of Florida; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chuckery. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Union County Chapter 55 or St. Paul's Ladies Aid. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
