Harold Goggin Obituary

Harold Lee Goggin, 66, of West Forks and Randolph died unexpectedly from a heart attack on April 28, 2011. Harold was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on Jan. 8, 1945, the oldest of five children of Lee and Eleanor (Eagles) Goggin.

Harold was a 1963 graduate of Gardiner Area High School and served in the Coast Guard. He spent 25 years in the Line Department at Central Maine Power Co., retiring in 1995. Harold had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, and his love of the outdoors led him to spend most of his retirement years at his camp in the Forks. Harold enjoyed time with his grandchildren, sharing his knowledge and skills of hunting and fishing. In addition, Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, target shooting, and was meticulous at reloading. When not participating in his hobbies, Harold could be found helping or enjoying the company of his many friends in the Forks and around Moxie Pond, where he will be greatly missed.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Melissa Stanley, and her husband, Skip Stanley, of Oxford; his son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Melissa Goggin, of Minot; his step-daughter, Michelle Morgan, and her husband, Fred Morgan, of Augusta; his grandchildren, Kristina, Cassidy, and Katlyn Lowe, Lillian Hakanson, Aaron and Curtis Stanley, Montana Goggin, Tyler and Jennifer Morgan; his brother, Robert (Bob) Goggin, of Weeks Mills; his sister, Phyllis True, and her partner, Bob Wing, of Weeks Mills; his sister, Barbara (Barbie) Wyman, and her husband, Bob, of Homosassa, Fla.; his sister, Betty Balderston, and her husband, Lloyd, of Winthrop; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Harold was predeceased by his wife, Carol Rawson Goggin, of Randolph, in March 2009; his father, Lee Warren Goggin Jr., of Randolph and Weeks Mills, in March 1999; his mother, Eleanor (Eagles) Goggin, of Randolph and Weeks Mills, in January 2010; and his brother-in-law, Howard True, in 1990.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, May 5, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association.

To all of Harold's family. I am so sorry to hear of Harold's passing. I am probably the reason Harold had a camp at Moxie Pond. He started going to Moxie with me and my paretd when we were in high school together. Harold, Brian Kittridge and I were the best of friends trough school. We did a lot of hunting and fishing when we should have been in school.
I haven't seen Harold much over the past several yers but he was and still is one of my very best friends.
To all of his family please accept my must hart felt condolecces.

Melissa, Brett and Michelle: Your dad was very special to me and my entire family. He will be missed by so many people. And Bob, I can't tell you how fondly I remember the countless hours of you and Harold sitting in our kitchen playing cribbage with my dad while I was growing up. There is never a time I look at a cribbage board and don't think of the two of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family and all the personal close friends of Harold in The Forks.

Bob,Phyllis,Barbie and Betty,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your brother Harold.
I know he will be missed by all that knew him. Growing up in Randolph on Pleasant Street was a joy. When I wasn't at my house I was with Bob or Harold or Lee playing baseball or just hanging out. Harold, Bob and I were in the service all at the same time in the 60's. Bob and were in the Army and Harold was in the Coast Guard. We kind of lost touch with each other over the years as often happens but I will always remember him as a great person.
My thoughts are with you all and your family at this time.
