Kenneth was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Needham, Mass., the son of Frederick H. And Julia M. (Dempsey) Cyphers.
He was a graduate of Wellesley High School class of 1949. He was a plumber and pipefitter by trade. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 716 Augusta, and a past member of Local 537 Pipefitters Association of Boston. Combined he was a member of the United Association for 58 years.
He served his country during the Korean War. He was wounded in Korea on Sept. 1, 1950, and honorably discharged in September 1952. He was a proud member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Cpl. Clair Goodblood Medal of Honor Chapter, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1865, the Disabled American Veterans, and The Alfred Maxwell Jr. American Legion Post 40, Winthrop.
He was a member of Maine-Trinity Commandery No. 1 Knights Templar, Augusta, the Elks 964, Augusta, and a former member of the Shriners.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick H. and Julia M. (Dempsey) Cyphers; his eldest son, Frederick Cyphers; and his sister-in-law, Florence Cyphers.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Cyphers of Hallowell and their daughter, Laurie and her husband, Todd Wesman of Franklin, Mass. He is also survived by four children from a previous marriage: Michael and his wife, Elizabeth Cyphers, of Mendon, Mass., their children Matthew and Melissa; Kenneth and Diane Cyphers of Marlborough, Mass., and their three sons, Kenny, Jonathan, and Paul; and two daughters, Kimberly and Julie; his brother, Raymond Cyphers of Wellesley, Mass.; his sister, Mary Jane Kelley and her husband, Jerry, of Wellesley; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Burial will be at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.

Carolyn,
Just saw Sue (formerly Duncan) Sunday and learned of Ken's death. I was so sorry to hear this news. I had not even known he was ill.
Hope to get over that way this summer and drop by.
This shows how out of touch life sends us!
