She was born in Frenchville on Jan. 25, 1913, a daughter of the late Damase and Sophia (Lamarre) Dubois. Cecile went on to marry Gilbert Lewia; he predeceased her in 1970. Cecile first worked in the American Woolen Mill in Skowhegan until its closing; she then worked for Norrwock Shoe Factory in Norridgewock for 26 years before retiring in 1978. She was an active communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church; she served as an usher and a collector since 1985. Cecile was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Ladies of Ste. Anne and served as vice-president of the Sunshine Society, and RSVP for the Skowhegan Senior Citizens Group.
Cecile is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 10 a.m., with the committal to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
