Pamela Izon Obituary

HARMONY -- Pamela J. Izon, of Harmony, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her husband, Tom, on Resurrection Sunday, April 24, 2011, following her courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 16, 1953, in Lincoln, the daughter of Glenn Sr. and Joyce (Hamilton) Speed.

Pam attended Hodgdon High School in Hodgdon. She later received her bachelor's degree in Christian Education from Trinity College of Florida.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harmony. Pam was a special speaker to Lady Ministries all over New England down to Florida. She greatly enjoyed being Pastor Thomas Izon's wife.

Pam was an excellent math teacher. She enjoyed investing in the children's lives that she taught, and she also enjoyed refereeing and coaching volleyball for the Christian school league. More than anything, she loved being a wife, mom and grammie.

Pam loved to knit, pick berries and bake.

She is survived by her three children, Cynthia Izon of Norridgewock, Elizabeth Rochette and husband Richard, their children, Carson and Lila Rochette, all of Golden Lake, Ontario, and Philip Izon and wife Tammy, their children, Kendra and Audrey, all of Norridgewock; her parents, Glenn and Joyce Speed, of Phenix City, Ala.; three siblings, Glenn Speed Jr. and wife Eileen of Phenix City, Ala., Rebecca Madasz and husband David of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Gary Speed and wife Melanie of Howland; numerous nieces and nephews to whom she loved being Aunt Pammy; her father- and mother-in-law, Thomas and Roberta Izon of Harmony; and a special sister-in-law, Kay Johnson and husband Richard, of Clearwater, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Thomas E. Izon, in March 2009; and one sister, Kathy Welch.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Harmony, High Street, Harmony. Burial will follow the service at Chadbourne Cemetery in Harmony. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Harmony Elementary School, Main Street, Harmony.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pam Izon Memorial Fund, First Baptist Church of Harmony, P.O. Box 5, Harmony, ME 04942.

Cynthia, We didn't know your mom like a lot of people at the Hartland Baptist Church, but we had the honor of meeting her and hearing her speak. I especially was blessed at the Ladies supper where your mom spoke. She left something very important with me that night. No matter what you face the Lord is always there. I just admired her so much. She is at rest, praise the Lord for her. Love Ralph and Meredith Hart

My heart goes out to each and every family member who held Pammy dear to their heart. I prayed when time seemed to hang on that the Lord would take her on Resurrection Sunday. Much love and prayers and God's grace for the days ahead. Both Tom and my husband, Ron Campbell went home to be with the Lord Tao years ago at this time. I know the sorrow of parting and the joy of knowing they are with the Lord. Memories of the harmony church and it's people are sweet as this was our very first church pastorate.

A time for tears,yes...but every thought of Pam that comes flooding into my mind brings a smile or a soft laugh for childhood and life long memories. We were blessed to be even a small part of her life's journey.
God Bless you all.

Our love and prayers go out to all the Izon and Speen families. Pam was a very special friend and her testimony and loving spirit has been a model for Daph and I as well as all that knew her. She is surely missed but the lives she has touched will go on long into the future. Lord Bless you-all Ed & Daph Mace

Our love and prayers...it's difficult to briefly and at the same time adequately express our love and sympathy at a time like this. When each one of you has your own personal sense of loss, words can be so inadequate. Just know that we love you and are praying for you.

Do they have coffee in Heaven? I keep picturing Aunt Pam and Mom visiting over a cup of coffee.

I'm glad that she is finally past all of the pain, but we will still miss her very much.

Praying for all of you.

I haven't known Pam a long time, but being Tammy's Aunt I have had some good times along side of her and the grandkids. She was a wonderful woman. The thing that stands out to me is that she loved God, her family and all those around her. She was called to be a wife of a minister of the Gospel and is now hearing "well done my good and faithful servant". She even spoke at a ladies conference not long ago even dealing with terminal cancer. What an example. As she and Dad sit before the throne God is smiling and is "well pleased". I wish I could be there with you. Please know that I love you so much and am continuing to pray for you all. Much love and prayers from myself and Calvary Baptist church. We have been praying a long time.

April 26, 2011

Dear Phil, Tammy and all your family.

We love you.

To my dear, wonderful friends Liz & Rick, Cynthia, Philip & Tammy, all of the Speed and Izon family that I love very much,
There will never be any words that would aptly describe how much of a blessing, encouragement, and testimony your wonderful Pam was to me in my life personally. My greatest regret right now is that I am not able to be there for you in person. Please know that my heart and my prayers are and have been constantly in prayer for you all during this time of bittersweet goodbyes. There are few families that have had more of an impact on my life than yours and Pam and Tom were friends that always were dear to my heart and have been so good to me over the years. I could probably write a book of all things that I could say to thank them for their encouragement, prayers and love that they showed to me over the years.
It blesses my heart to know that many, if not all of you had the opportunity to witness the grace and poise that Pam showed throughout her life, and even in her witness and testimony to the very end of her earthly life.
Please know that although I am very sad that I can not make it to Maine to be with you during this time, as I said before, my heart and prayers are very much there with you.
Liz, Cynthia, and Philip...thanks for being great friends and a great example of everything that your parents raised you to be. I can only pray and hope to be the kind of parents that your mom and dad were.

Love, Prayers, and Blessings to all of you.

Our thoughts & Prayers are with all of you. Pam & Tom both touched our lives with their testimony & Love for the Lord. They are enjoying fellowship now with our Saviour and that is so comforting. May the Lord richly Bless every aspect of the funeral.

Pam has meant so much to me in all the years we have known her. To be Pastor's wives together and her ministry to ladies was such a blessing and strengthening for me. We shared in parenting and caring for our ministries. I will greatly miss knowing she was there for counsel and friendship. I know she is far better now, but my selfishness misses her. Can you imagine the joy she felt when she saw Jesus and her precious Tom!?!? I will and have been praying for you all that you will know His peace and you will feel His hugs and love as you learn to live with out them. Our love to you all, Gary and Iva Kinney
