He was born on Oct. 8, 1930 in Waltham, Mass., son of the late James K. Gould and Maude L. (Reynolds).
He was the beloved husband of Ana (Davila) Gould for 53 years. Besides his wife, Ana, he is survived by his three sons, James K. Gould III of Avon, Steven A. Gould and wife Monica of Elgin, Texas, and Edward A. Gould of Manchester; his beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron, Camden, Michelle, Sara and Steven Jr. as well as Megan and Katie Latshaw; one special godson, Bruce Perry, of Jeffersonville, Vt.; and a great-grandson, Elijah Gould. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Ida Varney, and Alfred and wife Ellen Gould of Waterville, and Mary Veilleux; sister-in-law Dolores Gould of Winslow; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended families and friends.
James is predeceased by his brother, Burton I. Gould, and his brother-in-law, Richard Veilleux, both of Winslow.
James served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After 30-plus years of service, he retired from Pratt & Whitney as an engineer. He was a long-time member and past president of the East Hartford Lions Club having been honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow and Knight of the Blind.
He enjoyed calling bingo and camping with his family and friends. In later years, he thoroughly enjoyed bird watching and supplying feed to the various birds inhabiting the many birdhouses throughout his yard.
Having followed his sons into the Scouting movement, over the years rose various roles of leadership to assistant district executive and a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.
